Sweet and Sour chicken rice bowls

Another classic straight from my childhood. The recipe is very different from my sweet and sour pork. It may not be a traditional recipe but it sure does taste good.



Ingredients

2 boneless chicken thighs, skin on

garlic, salt and pepper to taste


1 cup white sugar

2 tbsp corn starch

3 tbsp soy sauce

3 tbsp water

1/2 cup white vinegar


  1. Preheat oven to 350°, season chicken with garlic salt and pepper, cook chicken for 45-50 minutes in a baking pan with edges

  2. Start on the sauce while chicken is cooking, in a large pan combine dry ingredients

  3. Whisk in all wet ingredients

  4. Heat up sauce on medium low heat until at a low simmer then remove from heat

  5. Pour sauce over chicken and continue baking for a further 20 minutes in sauce, makke sure to pour sauce directly over the skin of the chicken to get a nice caramalization.
